Sick Inc. has unveiled the FX3 Flexi Soft modular safety controller. Designed for adaptation tosafety applications for small- to medium-sizemachines, the controller is expandable from 12to 144 inputs/outputs. It is software-program-mable and offers features to increase theresponse time of the machine as well as anenhanced functional interface. Hardware andsoftware configuration for the system is doneusing a drag-and-drop feature.
Camera Tracking Software
Therma Trak, introduced by Flir Systems Inc., isa high-tech service for locating missing orstolen infrared cameras and thermal imagers.
Developed with Gadget Trak Inc., it uses recov-
ery software that pinpoints the geographic lo-
cation of lost, stolen or missing cameras. The
Therma Trak software embedded in the camera
tracks the Internet protocol address, the host
name and the Internet service provider being
used after the camera has been lost or stolen
and then connected to the Internet. It also is
used for asset management when multiple
cameras are deployed in the field. When track-
ing is activated, each time a camera is con-
nected to a computer with Internet access, an
e-mail is sent to the owner with a link to an
updated location report.
The Alta U16M high-performance cooled camera system from Apogee Instruments Inc. has a16-megapixel full-frame sensor with a 4096 ;4096 array size. The system offers microlensingand blooming gates, making it useful for applications in astrophotography, sky surveys, radiology, and optical and nondestructive testing. Ithas 32 MB of camera memory and a USB 2.0interface, and it can be cooled to between 45and 70 °C below ambient, depending on thehousing selected. The dynamic range is 79 dB,and anti-blooming is > 100;. ActiveX driversare included with each system.
Laser Processing Machine
Jenoptik LaserdiodeGmbH’s Lasers &Material ProcessingDiv. has releasedthe Jenoptik-VotanSolas 1800, a lasersystem that drillswithin 1 s up to
100 tiny through
holes into crys-
talline solar cells for
via metal or emitter wrap-through technology.
Available as a stand-alone system or as a module for integration into existing production environments, it has a disk laser that creates <10-µm holes without microcracks or debris. Thelaser beam is delivered by a scanner, with positioning accuracy of ± 10 µm. Wafer sizes of 100,
125 and 156 mm can be accommodated, as
can wafer thickness from 150 to 300 µm. Up to
1800 solar cells can be processed per hour.
Spectrum Detector Inc.’s two new models of the“delta” joulemeter probes are compatible withits delta-DPM USB-based digital power module.Model DPJ-25-OB features a black absorbingcoating for flat spectral response across thespectrum, while model DPJ-25-DC has a fast, diffuse metallic coating and is capable of pulsedmeasurements at >40,000 pps. Both versionshave an aperture diameter of 23 mm and aspectral range of 0.25 to 15 µm.
The 1064-nm pas-
has applications in
marking hard materials and
in biophotonics. Users have the
option to vary the lasers’ average out-
put power. The SNP-400P provides 400 m W of
average power, the SNP-30E delivers more than
30 µJ per pulse, and the SNP-7PW, 21 µJ per
pulse and 350 m W.
